In what we call a market economy and representative democracy, our leadership can and should take strong, effective steps to make clean, safe renewable energy, such as solar and wind power, sufficiently less expensive than polluting carbon energy. The key to implement the switch to clean energy and clean air is the will of the public and the will and ability of our leadership to make this switch. That’s were we, the public, come in.
We can, should and must fix our air pollution problem, both here and worldwide. Air pollution is harming our health, killing people, shortening all our lives, blocking our view of the great beauty around us and hurting our state’s tourist-reliant economy. Who wants to visit, or live, in a polluted environment? Air pollution causes changes to the environment which in turn are causing extremely costly, harmful and increasing climate-related problems both here in the U.S. and around the world.

According to a study by the US National Research Council, 36% comes down drains and rivers as waste and runoff from cities and industry. Plastic garbage, which decomposes very slowly, is often mistaken for food by marine animals. High concentrations of plastic material, particularly plastic bags, have been found blocking the breathing passages and stomachs of many marine species, including whales, dolphins, seals, puffins, and turtles. Plastic six-pack rings for drink bottles can also choke marine animals.
Garbage can come back to shore, where it pollutes beaches and other coastal habitats. Some of these chemicals enter the sea through deliberate dumping. For centuries, the oceans have been a convenient dumping ground for waste generated on land. This continued until the 1970s, with dumping at sea the accepted practise for disposal of nearly everything, including toxic material such as pesticides, chemical weapons, and radioactive waste.

In this article, the author is talking about how so many more people are moving into disaster zones, that that many more people are going to be effected by the coming disasters. The more people that come to these disaster prone areas the more people that will be getting hurt in the next storm. We keep building more and more resorts and hotels right in the big parts of where hurricanes are very likely to hit. His main point isn't to get them to totally not build there, but is to say, if we do build there we need to make the buildings more resistant to the weather conditions there.
The importance of this article is to tell people who are thinking it is an amazing idea to move to Florida or Texas or any state prone to disasters to be smart about what they choose. His advice could be used to show people that building anything that close to a disaster area needs to be strong and durable. The smartest choice would be to put better regulations on the way houses and buildings should be built in those areas.

The Santa Rosa fires started about six days before and then the evacuations were put on more places because of them intensifying. The fire are continuing to grow and they are moving faster than they can be contained. People are having to leave their houses and sometimes animals behind. The death toll has risen to 39 people.
This article is important because it is a notification to people who have family near these fires that they might be in danger. The fires are not being contained fast enough because the winds are moving so fast. People are loosing houses and pets which is cause for a lot of heart break. Also the fires are moving so fast people do not have time to grab very much stuff.

The 2017 hurricane season is the seventh busiest hurricane season in recorded history. There is only two other years that have faster hurricanes than at the end of September 2017. This year the same number of storms have been named as in 2004 which is 15. The 30 year average is six hurricanes and last season alone there was seven. September 2017, is the most active for tropical cyclones ever. It is expected for this season to keep climbing the list.
This means that this year has been one of the most tragic storm years ever. The cause of them intensifying this much has been connected with global warming. The warmer the oceans get the more strength the hurricanes have. The more intense the hurricane gets the more deaths and injuries the U.S. has.

This article shows how more CO2 emissions are effecting the ozone layer. Studies are starting to show the CO2 emissions and how they are creating a gas that completely destroys the ozone layer. China has a worse emissions because of the cold air surges in East Asia. The Ozone layer is the UV radiation shield for the earth.
This is effective because the depletion of the Ozone creates a hotter earth surface. The depletion of the Ozone creates global warming which creates a more dangerous earth. The laws have been changed to make it so that there are less CO2 emissions through out the world. The world will keep getting hotter and hotter because of this if we do not follow these laws.

Hurricanes are large swirling storms that have winds over 80 mile per hour. These storms form over warm ocean waters and intensify as the water gets warmer. A hurricane starts out a a tropical storm and becomes a hurricane once it reaches certain wind speeds. Warm ocean waters provide the energy for the storms. Storms are named in alphabetical order based on the time they were formed.
These storms effect us because once they hit land they flood and destroy homes and kill people. Hurricanes cause mass destruction and millions of dollars in government money to repair. This effects our economy and the people who live in it. These are also getting stronger and stronger as the earth warms which causes more destruction.
